Freight Trip Workings
Chester District
These pages show information from the 'Trip Notices' for the Chester District of the Stoke-on-Trent Division of the London Midland Region of British Railways.
These Trip Notices detail all the local freight and shunting workings that did not appear in the main "Mandatory" and "Conditional" working timetables. Along the North Wales coast, this covered a significant amount of activity, covering local freight yards, the nuclear power station sidings at Trawsfynydd and Valley, and shunting requirements at Bangor and Holyhead. Inland, there were several workings to service Penyfordd cement works and Brymbo steelworks, and (in 1975) workings along the Cambrian.
For ease of reading, I have split the workings into two sections:-
- North (covering all workings from Chester and along the North Wales Coast)
- South (the remainder, covering workings based at Wrexham and Shrewsbury)
